"Multicavitand I: Synthesis and X-ray Crystal Structure of a Fused bis p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene by two Silicon Atoms"

Abstract : The synthesis of a receptor possessing two divergent hydrophobic cavities was achieved by fusing two p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene units in cone conformation using silicon atoms. Crystal structure analysis and NMR studies proved the centrosymetric nature of the compound with a 3.75 Å distance between the two tetra-coordinated silicon atoms.

"Silacrown Ethers: Synthesis of Macrocyclic Diphenylpolyethyleneglycol Mono- and Disilanes"

G. ODDON, M. W. HOSSEINI, Tetrahedron Lett. , 7413-7416, 34, 1993.

Abstract : The synthesis of new mono- and disilacro wn ethers ([k]OlSim: (k,l,m) = (8,3,1); (11,4,1); (16,6,2); (22,8,2)) was achieved by reacting Ph2SiCl2 with HO-(CH2CH2O)n-H (n= 2, 3) in the presence of base. Variation of the later revealed that cations could act as templates and thus orient the synthesis towards the mono- or the disilanes.

"Multicavitands II: Synthesis of a Non Centrosymetric Hollow Molecular Unit (Koiland) Based On Fusion of Two p-tert-butylcalix[4]arenes by Both Silicon and Titanium Atoms"

X. DELAIGUE, M. W. HOSSEINI, E. LEIZE, S. KIEFFER and A. VAN DORSSELAER, Tetrahedron Lett. ,7561-7564, 34, 1993.

Abstract : The synthesis and NMR structural investigation of a non-centrosymetric koiland (hollow molecular unit) composed of two p-tert-butylcalix[4]arenes fused by both silicon and titanium atoms, and of its precursor obtained by fusing two p-tert-butylcalix[4]arenes with a silicon atom were achieved.
